University Student Therapy

A safe landing place for students walking through fire. Trauma-informed, culturally-rooted care for those carrying more than books.

I’m Sharlisa Byrd, a Certified Clinical Traumatologist, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner offering sliding-scale therapy to students across California and Oregon.

💛 Who I Support

I specialize in working with:

  • BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ students

  • First-generation college and graduate students

  • Students navigating grief, burnout, anxiety, or racialized trauma

  • Future healers, helpers, and changemakers carrying unseen burdens

🔥 Why This Matters

This offering is born from lived experience. While in graduate school, I endured multiple traumas—including losing my home to a fire and discovering a deceased student while working at a local high school. I carried those wounds into the classroom with little support. I know how heavy it can be to keep showing up when your world is unraveling.

I also know how life-changing it can be to have the right support at the right time.

🌊 How I Work

My approach integrates:

  • Somatic Experiencing

  • Trauma-informed talk therapy

  • Culturally-affirming, anti-oppressive care

Sessions are offered via secure telehealth in California and Oregon.

Through Byrd’s Eye View Professional Counseling Solutions, I offer:

  • Sliding-scale individual therapy for students

  • Virtual sessions available in CA & OR

  • Workshops on trauma, resilience, and identity

  • Trainings for staff/faculty on trauma-informed support

Our goal is to complement your university’s existing resources—not to replace, but to enhance. By partnering with Byrd’s Eye View, you offer your students access to care that is culturally responsive, grounded in somatic healing, and led by someone who’s walked the very halls they now walk.

📬 Want to Work Together?

Whether it's therapy referrals, student workshops, or staff training on trauma-informed care—I bring clinical expertise, cultural insight, and a heart for healing to the table.
